Tips to couponing!

Here are a few additional tips that may help you in your couponing endeavor!
Remember to start slow: It takes awhile to build up a stack of coupons from newspaper inserts and online coupon sites. Don't think that tomorrow you'll be able to walk in to the store and pay $25 on a $95 order. You will make mistakes, I've made my fair share and have done many returns after realizing my mistake! Trust me your mistakes become fewer and fewer! (I typically get a few of the Sunday inserts so that I have a few of each coupon)
Set Reasonable Goals: I know I have stated before that my budget is $50 a week, don't expect to start out there. It will take some time to stockpile items before you can drop your budget. And remember, each family is different my kids are pretty young and therefore don't necessarily eat as much as older children might. Set an easy goal maybe you want to drop your budget by $10/week over the next 3 weeks and see how that goes, then set a new goal!
Don't use your coupon just because you have a coupon! I don't use coupons just because I have them (unless of course I NEED a specific item) I hold onto the coupons and wait until the item goes on sale-then use the coupon with the sale price! This is how you can get the best price on an item. When this happens stock up a that specific item while it's at its low price!
Time: It's easy to spend a lot of time couponing. It will take you longer in the beginning, but you should be able to widdle down your time as you get more comfortable with clipping coupons!
Don't Clip Every Coupon! This will take too much time! I typically go through my ad and clip the coupons on products that I think I'll use. I then store my inserts in a file drawer, this way if I hear there's Free Floss if I use a coupon from a certain insert, I go to the insert clip the coupon and I'm off to the store for my FREE floss! (I keep my clipped coupons in an address filer, I found it at Meijer I believe. I've heard of others using a a 3 ring binder)
