Money Saving Tip when using coupons

Here's a little tip that I've used over the years when using coupons...When you're using a coupon, you will typically try to pair this coupon with the smallest size allowed. While the larger package may be a better per ounce price, it's more advantageous to use the coupon with a smaller package.
For example, let's say a small box of cheerios is on sale for $1.50 and a large box of cheerios is on sale for $3.50. I have a $.55 coupon which will be doubled if I go to Meijer, Kroger, or Giant Eagle. If I use the $.55 coupon on the small box, it means that I'm paying just $.40 for a small box of cereal. If I were to use the $.55 coupon on the large box, it means that I'm paying $2.40 for the large box. I could buy 6 boxes of the smaller cereal ($.40 x6=$2.40) when paired with a coupon and would have much more cereal then if I spent $2.40 on the large box!
Again, just a tip that I use. This is why I typically do not shop at Costco and Sam's Club, as I can frequently find cheaper items at the grocery!
