CVS for beginners~I've spent $36 so far this year and saved over $1,500!

For those of you that are not too familiar with CVS, I'm going to try to give a quick run-down of how AWESOME this store is! Year to date, I've spent about $36 and I've saved over $1,500!! Yep, it sounds crazy, but it's so true! This is another way that I keep my budget to $50/week! It may take a little while to get the hang of it, but once you've got it...you won't believe how much fun it is!
-First, get your CVS ExtraCare card, just ask a cashier. You'll need to have the card scanned for each of your purchases.

-Next, focus on earning Extra Bucks! ECBs (Extrabucks=ECB) are earned through promotions, such as “Buy XX, receive $YY in ECB.” you will see these promotions in the monthly and weekly ads. The ecbs print at the end of your receipt after paying for your order- clip them and keep them, it's like they're cash! The key is once you earn some Extra Bucks, the next time you buy something, try to buy something that will give you more Extra Bucks...this is called rolling your ECBs!

Here's an example that you can do this week:

Transaction #1: Buy Colgate Total Advanced Toothpaste 4oz $2.99-use $1 q from 5/10 ss; Pay $1.99 and you'll get $2 ECBs at the bottom of your receipt.

Transaction #2: Buy 1 Speed Stick Pro 2.7 oz $3.99, give them your $2 in ECB from Trans. #1, then Pay $1.99 cash; and you'll get $3.99 ECBs at the bottom of this receipt.

Transaction #3: Buy 1 more Speed Stick Pro (the limit is 2 per card) 2.7 oz $3.99, give them your $3.99 ECBs from Trans #2 and you may only have to pay a little tax and you'll get $3.99 in ECBs at the bottom of this receipt.

So for 2 Deoderants and 1 Toothpaste you will have spent $3.98 cash (maybe some tax) and you still have $3.99 to use on your next purchase!
Transaction #4: If you can find the 1 oz Neutrogena SPF 55 for $1.99 (Scroll down to see this CVS post). You can buy 2, use your $3.99 ECB from Trans. 3 pay maybe tax and get $10 in ECBs for your next purchase!!! Woohoo!!

If you don't see any other Extra Bucks items, wait until next week and see what you can get for FREE/Cheap next week!
This is where I get tons of FREE items that I stockpile, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, tampons, fingernail polish (revlon), face soap (loreal, clearasil), bandaids, deoderant and so much more! When you take these out of your weekly budget it really helps you save! (I think I have 16 tubes of toothpaste and 10 shampoos/conditioners!)
Don't hesitate to let me know if you have questions~I had so many when I first began!!
